- As an explorer, my passion is to explore my world and help other folks explore theirs. I explore my world with a camera, hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, surfing, canoeing, kayaking... To help others explore their spiritual landscape, I work as a hospital chaplain, practice spiritual direction and conduct wedding ceremonies. "Reaching Higher" symbolizes the mutual contribution of action and learning, needed to reach higher to improve one's life situation. Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy established the Team Member Scholarship program in 1973 to encourage Chick-fil-A restaurant employees to further their education. $20 million has been spent in that and subsequent scholarship programs to challenge and assist team members in their desire to "reach higher."
